Vice Speaker Alen Simonyan denounces vandalism targeting Griboyedov statue

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 3, ARMENPRESS. Vice Speaker of Parliament Alen Simonyan has condemned the vandalism targeting the statue of Alexander Griboyedov in Yerevan.

“That person doesn’t know who Griboyedov is, what role he had, and why he was killed”, Simonyan said referring to Shahen Harutyunyan, the activist who sprayed paint on the statue. He called the act unacceptable “vandalism”.

“To my joy, it got a negative reaction from nearly all layers of the society”.

The Vice Speaker noted that law enforcement agencies ought to definitely deal with the matter.
