YEREVAN, APRIL 24, ARMENPRESS. Primateof the Armenian Apostolic Church inLebanon Bishop Shahe Panossiandelivered a liturgy dedicated to the 102nd anniversary of the Armenian Genocide at the Antelias Cathedral. As “Armenpress” was informed from the press service of the Armenian Catholicosate in Antelias, following the liturgy the clergymen led by His Holiness Aram I headed to the monument eternalizing the memory of the victims of the Armenian Genocide. Ministers, MPs, representatives of the three Armenian political parties in Lebanon, as well as various unions and organizations accompanied the clergymen.
Catholicos Aram I gave a speech at the monument, stressing the importance of the pan-Armenian Declaration on the Genocide issued on the 100th anniversary. The Catholicos also hoped that Europe will adopt a tougher position on Turkey regarding the Armenian Genocide. “The gradually rising presence of Turkey in Islamic and particularly Arabic states can have serious consequences on the Middle East, and naturally on the works of the “Armenian Cause”. Therefore, it’s necessary to continue the works aimed at drawing the attention of the decision makers in Arabic and Islamic countries on the pan-Turkism aspirations of Turkey. It’s also important to establish contacts with those Turkish intellectuals who show sympathy towards the rights of our people, as well as find ways of cooperation with Islamized Armenians”, Aram I said.
The Catholicos of the Great House of Cilicia also mentioned that Turkey has created serious hardships over the action of returning the Sis Catholicosate by preventing the lawyers from doing their professional job, as well as by imprisoning one of the Turkish lawyers of the legal committee. His Holiness stated that the legal process must go on against those measures.
Concluding his speech, Aram I said that that 102 years after the Armenian Genocide our march to demand justice continues and must continue with more faith and determination.
