Armenia to participate in MIDEM Festival, Armenian music to be performed for four days

YEREVAN, 18 MARCH, ARMENPRESS. Armenian music will fill the air in Cannes for four days. As was officially announced during a March 18 press conference at the Komitas Museum-Institute, Armenia will be participating in the prestigious MIDEM International Music Festival in France with the status of a guest of honor on 5-8 June, 2015.

Minister of Culture of the Republic of Armenia Hasmik Poghosyanmentioned that this is part of the several events dedicated to the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide.

“Armenia will be presenting not only Armenian music, but the Armenia that was reborn and Komitas, the founder of Armenian classical music. Armenia couldn’t have rejected the offer since MIDEM is one of the most prestigious festivals that takes place Armenia’s friendly country France,” the minister mentioned, as “Armenpress” reports.

French Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Armenia Jean-Francois Charpentierattached importance to the fact that Armenia was going to be participating in the festival with the status of a guest of honor. According to him, Armenia will present traditional and modern Armenian music to the world at the festival to be held in Cannes.
