Armenia's President hosts Karekin II, Aram I, and Nerses-Petros XIX

YEREVAN, MAY 27, ARMENPRESS. On May 27, the President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan had a meeting with His Holiness Karekin II, the Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, Catholicos of the Great House of Cilicia Aram I, and His Eminence Nerses-Petros XIX, Catholicos-Patriarch of the Armenian Catholic Community. The Mass Media and Public Relations Department of the President’s Office informed “Armenpress” that the President discussed issues regarding the close cooperation between the state and Armenian churches, Homeland, and Diaspora with Karekin II, Aram I, and Nerses-Petros XIX.

At the course of the meeting, the interlocutors touched upon the significant role of the Armenian Holy Apostolic Church in the preservation of Armenian identity in the Armenian national life and the daily efforts all the Hierarchical Sees, Dioceses, and structures make for the solution of the all-Armenian issues. Among other things, the interlocutors highlighted the importance of participation of the Armenian Apostolic and Catholic churches in the activities of the state committee coordinating the events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.

Also, the President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan, His Holiness Karekin II, the Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, Catholicos of the Great House of Cilicia Aram I, and His Eminence Nerses-Petros XIX, Catholicos-Patriarch of the Armenian Catholic Community, discussed the awkward situation our compatriots have currently appeared due to the Syria crisis and issues on providing support to them.
