Prime Minister regards IT application as efficiency condition for Armenia’s economy

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 4, ARMENPRESS:The efficiency of Armenia’s economy can increase in case of using all the possibilities of Information Technologies sector. Armenia has a relative advantage in IT sector in form of intellectual potential. Tigran Sargsyan stated this within the framework of the official presentation of the first Armenian tablet.

According to the Prime Minister, IT sector, declared a branch of priority 10 years ago, gives its tangible results. “Any branch of economy cannot be efficient without the application of IT. If we manage to reap all the fruits of this sector, it means that Armenia’s economy will be efficient 10 year later too and we will have a competitive country from the point of productivity,” Tigran Sargsyan noted as reported by “Armenpress”.

The Head of the Government reminded 2013 results registered in the IT. According to him, double-digit economic growth has a continuous nature. “2013 was not an exception in this regard. IT sector growth amounted to around 20 percent, exportation from this area increased in 12 percent. It means that significant part of the growth already provides inner-republican consumption for itself which is also gratifying,” the Prime Minister said. Tigran Sargsyan added that 80 percent of IT enterprises are of Armenian origin.

The Prime Minister regarded 2013 achievements as strengthening of international corporations interest towards Armenia’s IT sector. He attached importance to providing staffing of IT sector noting that employment grew by 1.8 thousand people in the previous year and amounted to 11 thousand. “I want to draw the attention of the young generation to the fact that there is a demand for high -quality work and if you get corresponding education you will be guaranteed to have a job in the field of high- productivity and high reward,” Tigran Sargsyan stated.
