YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 6, ARMENPRESS: The Spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Tigran Balayan stated that the announcement spread by the Azerbaijani mass media on behalf of ASALA is an obvious fake, commenting to Armenpress on the so-called appeal letter disseminated in the Azerbaijani-Turkish mass media sent by ASALA. According to Tigran Balayan, «the fake becomes obvious because of the fact that the number of the Armenian Genocide victims is distorted. No Armenian could do such thing».
The appeal letter, which is full of historic and factual distortions and reflects the Turkish-Azerbaijani version of the history, supposedly was sent to the Azerbaijani Embassy in Hungary on September 3 and said that the Armenians' pain for 600,000 Genocide victims is still in the memories of the Armenian nation.
In fact, the number of victims, murdered in the Armenian Genocide in the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th centuries committed by the Osman Turkey, exceeds one and a half million.
