Armenia national football team head coach Yeghishe Melikyan does not regard Cyprus as easy opponents ahead of their next match in the Nations League qualifying stage.
“We have analysed Cyprus and know their strengths and weaknesses. They have players with individual quality. Cyprus have a distinctive style of play, which reflects the coach’s work. They are not easy opponents for us,” Melikyan said at the pre-match press conference.
He also addressed the absence of Ognjen Čančarević and Zhirayr Shaghoyan from the squad, stressing that Čančarević had suffered an injury, while another player had travelled with the team in place of Shaghoyan.
According to Melikyan, exactly 10 players have not joined the national team, which represents a serious loss for the side.
Armenia will play away against Cyprus on 2 October in the third round of the Nations League. The match will take place on 2 October and kick off at 20:00 Yerevan time.
