Saudi Arabia has strongly condemned Iran’s attacks against Kuwait, according to a statement issued by the Saudi Foreign Ministry.
The ministry firmly rejected the attack, saying it constituted a violation of Kuwait’s sovereignty, international law and the Charter of the United Nations.
“Such violations undermine international efforts aimed at restoring security and stability in the region. The Kingdom also expresses its solidarity with the brotherly State of Kuwait, its government and its people, and reaffirms its full support for all measures taken by Kuwait to protect its sovereignty, security and stability, as well as the well-being of its people,” the statement said.
Earlier, Kuwait, which hosts one of the largest U.S. military bases in the region, said its air defence systems had intercepted drones and missiles that entered the country’s airspace.
Meanwhile, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said it had targeted U.S. military bases in response to strikes carried out by U.S. armed forces against Iranian command centres.
