Georgia hails "historic" Armenia-Azerbaijan peace deal for regional stability

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said that the recently established peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan provides a positive foundation for ensuring regional stability.

He made the remarks during a joint press event with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan following the 15th session of the Armenia-Georgia Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation, held in Georgia.

He said Georgia is encouraged by the growing cooperation among the countries of the South Caucasus.

“We are pleased and happy that a historic agreement was signed between Armenia and Azerbaijan,” Kobakhidze said, referring to the Armenia-Azerbaijan peace deal initialed on August 8, 2025, in Washington, D.C.

“These developments create a very positive foundation for ensuring stability and peace in the region, and in this context, I would like to once again emphasize that we are ready to continue supporting the establishment of peace in the region,” Kobakhidze stated, stressing that Tbilisi will spare no effort in this regard.

The Prime Minister of Georgia emphasized that there is excellent cooperation with Armenia and that everything must be done to further deepen that cooperation and existing ties.
