Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has again emphasized the role of education in the country’s development and in addressing national challenges.
"The more comprehensively we understand our country’s problems, the more we become convinced that all the solutions to all our issues are rooted in education and lie within the education sector," PM Pashinyan said at the opening ceremony of a new public school in the village of Sasunik in Aragatsotn province.
The Prime Minister stressed that thanks to large-scale construction projects implemented in recent years, the new schools being built with state budget funds are gradually becoming examples of a modern educational environment
We have come a long way in learning what the government needs to do to achieve better results in school construction. But we must also be more demanding of ourselves, paying attention to every detail — every wall, color, handle, and nail," Prime Minister Pashinyan said.
He emphasized the importance of maintaining high standards of construction quality.
"We must move away from the perception that it’s natural for a school to get worn out after it is built. No — even ten years later, it must remain in the same condition, both in appearance and in content," the Prime Minister said.
The Prime Minister also emphasized that school construction should be viewed as a key direction of governance and industrialization.
“We are talking about the industrialization of construction, because the more work is done through an industrial production line, the shorter the timelines and the higher the quality will be," Pashinyan said.
Speaking about educational values, the Prime Minister stated that newly built public schools should become exemplary institutions — both in terms of their structure and educational content.
“This school is more important than any of our own apartments, because under this roof, everything is decided — our children’s future, the course of their lives. Our message to everyone is the same: study well, so you can live well," PM Pashinyan said.
He said that the government will continue investing in the education system while also introducing effective models for the maintenance of buildings and property.
“This school is not for just one or five years. The better we manage the property, the longer it will serve. We need to introduce a culture of warranty-based maintenance in school management,” Pashinyan stated.
