Environment minister briefs diplomatic missions on COP17 preparations

Armenian Minister of Environment Hambardzum Matevosyan met on July 17 with representatives of diplomatic missions accredited to Armenia and international organisations to present the progress of preparations for the UN Biodiversity Conference (CBD COP17) and outline the next steps.

The update was shared by Matevosyan in a post on his Facebook page.

“This was our third meeting in this format, allowing us to continue an open, inclusive and effective dialogue with our partners, present the work carried out, hear their proposals and answer organisational and substantive questions.

During the meeting, I reviewed the progress of preparations for COP17, cooperation with international partners over recent months, and the conference’s key milestones.

I also presented the initiatives of the COP17 Presidency, which are intended to promote international cooperation, innovative solutions and practical outcomes in biodiversity conservation beyond the conference itself.

Our partners were also briefed on the organisational and logistical preparations for the conference, including infrastructure readiness, transport arrangements, security, the reception and registration of delegations, communications and other organisational matters. I thank the diplomatic missions accredited to Armenia and the international organisations for their continued support, active engagement and constructive cooperation,” Matevosyan wrote.
