The delegation of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, led by Deputy Minister Armen Ghazaryan, paid a working visit to Germany and France from September 8 to 12, the ministry has said.
The delegation visited the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees of Germany, as well as the Council of Europe headquarters, within the framework of the "Strengthening Human Rights Safeguards for the Displaced Population in Armenia" program of the Council of Europe.
The Armenian side studied Germany’s experience with the Temporary Protection Directive and compared the specifics of temporary protection mechanisms applied in different states. Reintegration programs implemented in Germany were also presented.
The delegation additionally visited the branch of the German Migration Agency in Zirndorf, where they were introduced to asylum procedures and accommodation conditions.
During discussions with Council of Europe counterparts in Strasbourg, Armen Ghazaryan highly appreciated the almost two-year bilateral cooperation in protecting the rights of displaced persons. A meeting was also held with Armen Papikyan, Armenia's Permanent Representative to the Council of Europe.
