Armenian interior minister, U.S. official discuss Trump Route

Minister of Internal Affairs Arpine Sargsyan has met with Brendan Hanrahan, the U.S. State Department’s Senior Bureau Official for the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs.
Minister Sargsyan attached importance to the initialling of the Armenian-Azerbaijani peace agreement on August 8 through U.S. mediation and emphasized Washington’s significant role in establishing peace, the ministry said in a readout. She also lauded the signing of the three memoranda of understanding between Armenia and the United States, which creates new opportunities of cooperation.
The minister also spoke about the effective bilateral cooperation, highlighting the fight against organized crime, cybercrimes and illegal immigration. Sargsyan attached importance to U.S. support for police reforms and underscored the ongoing discussions around launching a cyberlaboratory.
The U.S. State Department official lauded the close partnership between Armenia and the United States and attached importance to continual cooperation with the interior ministry.
Issues pertaining to TRIPP (Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity), which has been presented based on the principles of preserving Armenia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, were also discussed.
Other issues related to cooperation were addressed.
The Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity is a connectivity project in Armenia envisaged under the U.S.-brokered Armenian-Azerbaijani joint declaration signed in Washington, D.C.
The project is expected to unlock strategic economic opportunities that will create long term benefits by promoting infrastructure investment and enhancing regional connectivity.
