Armenia records 1,375 domestic violence reports in first half of 2026

During the first half of 2026, Armenian police received 1,375 reports concerning domestic and family violence.

Of these, 325 resulted in warnings, while 961 resulted in emergency intervention orders, Acting Police Chief and Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Kamo Tsutsulyan said at a press conference.

According to Tsutsulyan, 1,155 perpetrators of violence were placed under police registration, while 2,343 are currently registered.

The number of crimes committed by minors increased by 54, or 43.5%, compared with the same period last year, rising from 124 to 178. Meanwhile, crimes committed against minors decreased by 64, or 13.1%, from 488 to 424.

“Seventy-two cases of crimes committed by minors were identified in schools, other educational institutions, and adjacent areas, compared with 74 during the same period last year. These included 20 cases of causing bodily injury, 40 cases of physical violence, four cases of hooliganism, and other offenses.

“A total of 225 minors were placed under preventive police registration, compared with 167 during the same period last year. In addition, 10 parents or legal representatives who had a negative influence on minors were placed under preventive registration, compared with 20 during the same period last year. The Ministry of Internal Affairs submitted 18 formal requests to the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports,” Tsutsulyan said.
