Pashinyan: Armenia close to ending extreme poverty

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said his government is very close to fulfilling one of its campaign promises — ending extreme poverty in Armenia.

Pashinyan addressed the matter during parliamentary debates on his government’s 2026-2031 program, referring to the poverty rate in Armenia and further steps to reduce it.

“We are essentially very close to fulfilling one of our campaign promises, namely to end extreme poverty. There is a high probability that we have achieved that goal. We will know this, including through the results of fresh studies by international organizations. I hope that these studies will substantiate what I am saying, but I have no doubt that we have come very close to achieving it,” Pashinyan said.
