Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that the “historic” meeting in Washington aimed at establishing peace with Azerbaijan wouldn’t have been possible without the heroism of the fallen Armenian troops.
“Today, a truly historic event has taken place. Let us record—peace has now been established between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Of course, we must continue to institutionalize this peace, and the process that has begun will surely continue,” he told reporters.
“I would like once again to pay tribute to all our martyrs and their families. Today—what I believe marks the culmination of Armenia’s independence and sovereignty—was reached thanks to the heroism of our fallen brothers. My respects go to them all, and I kneel before them and their families. After all, we have reached the point where we have laid a cornerstone toward achieving our strategic goal.”
The Prime Minister added that what he referred to is the enduring future of Armenia—its prosperity, happiness, and the security of its citizens. Pashinyan also emphasized that the joint declaration signed with Azerbaijan holds tremendous importance for the entire region.
