Armenian Member of Parliament Arsen Torosyan from the ruling Civil Contract party is participating in the Ukraine Recovery Conference 2025 in Rome.
Torosyan said he was invited by the parliaments of Italy and Ukraine.
“On the sidelines of the conference I had a one-on-one meeting with the First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Oleksandr Korniyenko,” Torosyan said on social media.
“Armenia participated in this conference for the first time last year and we will continue to be committed to Ukraine’s recovery and the fulfillment of a broader goal of European peace and stability,” he said in his remarks at the event.
He said Armenia attaches importance to the process not only in terms of the practical circle of Ukraine’s recovery but also for all democratic countries with political and moral obligation.
“At this moment, we as a country are involved in a difficult yet decisive normalization process with our neighbor Azerbaijan. Just yesterday, Prime Minister Pashinyan and President Aliyev held successful talks in Abu Dhabi. Our ultimate goal is to change the security architecture and the philosophy of interrelations in the region, by securing lasting peace and stability in the South Caucasus and adjacent areas. We strongly believe that Italy and Ukraine, other European democracies, can play an important role in supporting the peace process in our region. The reciprocal recognition of territorial integrity based on the Alma-Ata Declaration is the cornerstone of our approach. We believe that this same principle must be applicable in the entire post-Soviet area, including in Ukraine,” he said, reiterating readiness to closely cooperate with European partners, including Ukraine, “because we share the same values.”
