European Parliament to vote on trade-liberalization measures for Armenian products on September 15

The European Parliament is set to vote on September 15 on the proposed temporary trade-liberalization measures for Armenian products, according to the agenda of the Parliament’s plenary session.

On September 2, the Council of the EU agreed to introduce temporary trade-liberalization measures for Armenian products to support Armenia's economy following trade restrictions recently imposed by Russia. These measures will liberalize around 80% of Armenian exports to the EU.

The Council endorsed the Commission proposal without changes, clearing the way for the regulation to be swiftly adopted following the European Parliament’s vote.

The proposal was subsequently approved by the European Parliament’s Committee on International Trade (INTA).

Once it is formally adopted on September 15, the regulation will enter into force on the day following its publication in the Official Journal of the EU.

The European Parliament is expected to adopt its position without amendments, the Council of the EU said earlier.
