Georgian President says South Caucasus could become an oasis of peace and stability

Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili believes that the South Caucasus has the potential to become a center of regional peace and stability.

“I am very satisfied with my meetings with the leaders of neighboring countries. The South Caucasus has the opportunity to become an oasis in the region,” Kavelashvili stated during the Actual Topic with Maka Tsintsadze program on Georgian Public Television.

The President emphasized that the visits made it clear to all parties how important it is to prioritize peace in the South Caucasus, not only for the region itself but also for global actors.

“It was an ideal picture when we were talking to each other. Armenia also gradually recognized the potential that the South Caucasus holds,” Kavelashvili noted.

He stressed the importance of moving away from ongoing conflicts and instead focusing on investment, economic development, and normalization of relations.

“Of course, the interests of major global powers will be present. But the South Caucasus has the opportunity to become a regional oasis, not a zone of conflict or a tool for carrying out tasks for any major country. On the contrary, we should gradually move toward dialogue, investment, and normalization. That potential exists,” the Georgian President concluded.
