Myanmar earthquake: Nearly 60 dead

At least 59 people died and over 250 were injured in the two consecutive earthquakes that hit Myanmar and were felt in Thailand, according to News18.
The quakes measured 7.7 and 6.4 on the Richter scale, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS).
The epicentre of the earthquake was reported to be in central Myanmar, nearly 50 kilometres east of the city of Monywa.
Several parts of Thailand also felt tremors of the quake. At least 4 people were killed and dozens of workers were trapped after an under-construction skyscraper collapsed in Bangkok following the earthquake.
55 deaths and 200 injuries were reported in Myanmar, while 4 people died and over 50 were injured in Thailand. Over 80 people are missing.
The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said initial reports indicate “significant damage,” following the 7.7-magnitude earthquake that hit Myanmar, CNN reported.
