YEREVAN, OCTOBER 23, ARMENPRESS. Speaker of Parliament of Armenia Alen Simonyan has denied Azerbaijani accusations of revanchist sentiments and reiterated that Yerevan seeks peace with Baku.
“We want comprehensive peace,” Speaker Simonyan told reporters when asked to comment on the accusations of revanchist sentiments in Armenia made by Azerbaijan. “We don’t seek peace just for a formality. If the Azeri side is speaking about revanchism, then the biggest revanchism is what they themselves are doing now. And the biggest encouragement of revanchism is what they are doing now, that is, demanding a road from us in a concrete direction, and the attempts to impose something, somehow upon Armenia. By doing so they are sowing the revanchism, which doesn’t exist within the Armenian people today.”
The Speaker added that the Armenian people want to live in peace.
