The Armenian Genocide Museum has received more than 4,000 exceptional documents in recent years

YEREVAN, JULY 25, ARMENPRESS. The Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute hosted a presentation featuring over 4,000 titles of materials received in recent years, as well as the latest three volumes and scientific periodicals of the “Memoirs of Armenian Genocide Survivors” series.

In an interview with "Armenpress", Edita Gzoyan, director of the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute, said that the presentation included the last two issues of the past year of the scientific journals "Journal of Genocide Studies" and "International Journal of Armenian Genocide Studies", as well as the new volumes of the series of memoirs of genocide survivors, and two scientific studies published in Russian and French.

“What about documents, these are donations made to the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute in recent years. Their number being quite high, we decided to present them at an event. We received more than 4000 documents. These include, for example, original photos taken during the Armenian Genocide as well as during the Hamidian massacres. We also received a large number of photos related to the cases in Artsakh,” Gzoyan clarified, adding that the documents received from different regions of the world, such as Lebanon, Greece, the United States and Russia, also include memoirs and documents in Ottoman script.

Among the materials presented at the event are photos by French-Armenian photographer Arshak (Max) Sivaslyan, depicting episodes from the Artsakh wars of 1992 and 2016.

Some of these images have not yet been published.

According to the director of the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute, these materials of exceptional importance will take their place in future exhibitions.

The event was attended by the descendants of donors and survivors of the Armenian Genocide, during which the memoirs of their ancestors were presented.
