110th anniversary of Armenian Genocide exhibitions to be held around the world

A number of exhibitions will be held around the world as part of the series of events dedicated to the 110th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.

On April 23, at 15:00, the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute will inaugurate a temporary exhibition titled Documenting the Crime: Eyewitness Recorders of the Armenian Genocide, the museum-institute’s director Edita Gzoyan said at a press conference.

The exhibition will be unique in terms of the volume, nature and depth of materials, she said.

The exhibition will touch upon all the people, including diplomats, missionaries, journalists and others, who were in the Ottoman Empire during the years of the Armenian Genocide.

“They were documenting the crime through their publications, letters, journalistic investigations and photos. We will present it all,” Gzoyan said.

The exhibition will also touch upon the Constantinople trials, showing that the Armenian Genocide had actually been recognized through the legal and judicial processes in the Ottoman Empire despite modern-day Turkiye's denial.

“We have spoken about the commissions that were created back then to collect all the materials that subsequently served as the grounds for the trials. We have also presented the reports in the Turkish press which documented the Armenian Genocide,” Gzoyan said.

Aside from the Yerevan exhibition, several exhibitions will take place elsewhere around the world, organized by the museum-institute. Such an exhibition has already been inaugurated in Bucharest.

Two exhibitions will be held in Russia's Moscow and St. Petersburg. A similar exhibition is planned to be held in Poland.

The museum-institute has been actively cooperating with the Canada-based Zoryan Institute and a jointly organized exhibition titled Women, From Discrimination to Empowerment will be held across Canada, the US and Brazil.

Exhibition will also take place across Armenian cities, such as Gyumri and Abovyan.
