YEREVAN, JULY 15, ARMENPRESS. Today, at the Military Academy named after Vazgen Sargsyan of the Armenian Ministry of Defense, the start of the joint Armenian-American exercises “Eagle Partner 2024” was announced.
The opening ceremony of the exercise was attended by the Minister of Defense of Armenia Suren Papikyan, the U.S. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Armenia Kristina Kvien and others.
The national anthems of Armenia, the United States and the anthem of the “Eagle Partner” exercises were played. Armenian Minister of Defense Suren Papikyan and U.S. Ambassador Kristina Kvien addressed the military personnel participating in the exercises with welcoming speeches.
Armenian Defense Minister Suren Papikyan in his speech noted:
“I highly appreciate the work of the U.S. Army in Europe and Africa and the Kansas Army National Guard, which has been a partner of Armenia for more than two decades, the servicemen of the Peacekeeping Brigade of the Armenian Armed Forces, representatives of the U.S. Embassy and employees of the Armenian Ministry of Defense who participated in the effective planning of the exercises.
I highly appreciate this cooperation, aimed at increasing the level of interaction between units participating in international peacekeeping missions within the framework of peacekeeping operations."
The opening ceremony ended with a ceremonial march.
In preparation for participation in international peacekeeping missions, joint Armenian-American military exercises "Eagle Partner 2024" will be held in Armenia on July 15-24.
The exercises involve military personnel from the peacekeeping brigade of the Armenian Armed Forces, the U.S. Army in Europe and Africa and the Kansas Army National Guard.
The exercises involve stabilization actions between conflicting parties during the implementation of peacekeeping tasks.
The purpose of the exercise is to increase the level of coordination of units participating in international peacekeeping missions within the framework of peacekeeping operations, exchange best practices in the field of management and tactical communication, as well as increase the combat readiness of the Armenian unit.
In preparation for peacekeeping missions, units preparing for international peacekeeping operations regularly participate in similar joint military exercises and training in partner countries.
