Poland in talks with US over ‘several’ permanent military bases

Poland is in talks with Washington over establishing “several” permanent US military bases in the country, TVP World reported, citing Deputy Defense Minister Paweł Zalewski.

He said that an American official will soon visit to review Warsaw's proposed locations. 

Zalewski made the remarks after meeting US Under Secretary of Defense for Policy Elbridge Colby at NATO headquarters in Brussels. 

“In fact, we are talking about several bases, several locations where American soldiers would be permanently stationed in Poland,” TVP World quoted him as saying.

Poland currently hosts around 10,000 US troops, the second-largest American contingent in Europe after Germany, though most are stationed on a rotational rather than permanent basis.
