YEREVAN, APRIL 3, ARMENPRESS. The shelling of Martakert city, that grew relatively weaker late in the evening of April 2, resumed with new intensity in the morning of April 3, at 09:00, and continues up till now with sporadic interruptions. Anyway, the situation is under full control and combat mood continues to prevail among the population. “Armenpress” reports head of Martakert regional administration Vladik Khachatryan informed about it, adding that in accordance with the civil protection plan, the population of the city has found shelter in hide-outs, and coming out of the hideouts during the interruptions of the shelling, engages in daily life.
“The civil protection headquarter of Martuni is brought to high degree of readiness. Besides, the services ensuring the operation of infrastructures of the administrative centre act vigorously, trying to rapidly renovate the infrastructures damaged by the enemy”, the head of Martakert regional administration introduced the details.
Khachatryan also informed that by now there are no civilian casualties. Houses, trees, as well as the gas pipeline of the city have been hit by the enemy fire.
Along the entire length of the contact line of Nagorno Karabakh- Azerbaijan opposing forces, on April 1 and throughout the morning of April 2, the adversary undertook large-scale offensive military actions, during which the adversary shelled with missile-artillery units not only Armenian defense positions, but also civilian settlements.
According to the data of the Defense Army, the Azerbaijani armed forces fired MM-21 (Grad) multiple rocket launcher on April 2, at 08: 30 in the direction of Martuni (NKR), killing 12 year old Vaghinak Grigoryan and wounding two other children. Later, 4 more civilians were taken to Stepanakert hospital.
The Defense Army conducts successful defensive battles throughout all directions of the contact line, causing significant losses to the adversary’s manpower and equipment.
According to the Defense Army’s data, Armenian forces downed 2 enemy helicopters, destroyed 14 tanks, 2 UAVs. Over 200 Azerbaijani servicemen have been eliminated during this period.
Due to timely and professional actions of Nagorno Karabakh Defense Army it was possible to take the situation under control and not only take the situation under control, but also inflict considerable losses onthe enemy. At this moment Armenia has suffered 18 victims and almost 35 wounded.
Since 06:00, April 3, the adversary resumed aggressive military operations using missile-artillery and armored vehicles in the southern direction of the frontline. Defense Army takes deterrence measures and has taken control of a tactical position in Talysh direction occupied by Azerbaijani forces the previous day.
