YEREVAN, AUGUST 20, ARMENPRESS. Speaker of NKR National Assembly, Ashot Ghulyan, received the delegation headed by Human Rights Defender of the Republic of Armenia, Karen Andreasyan, on August 20. As “Armenpress” was informed from the press service of the NKR National Assembly, welcoming the delegates, the Speaker of the NKR NA hoped that the first meeting of the delegation with state officials and representatives of NGOs will give an overall idea about human rights defense in Artsakh and progress in that sphere.
The Human Rights Defender of the Republic of Armenia highlighted the role of the National Assembly as an important state institution mentioning the citizens must gradually feel the influence of the legislative body. The sides spotlighted the cooperation of human rights institutes of the two states and the necessity of coordinating efforts.
NKR Human Right Defender Yuri Hayrapetyan and the chair of NKR NA Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs Hovik Jivanyan also attended the meeting.
