YEREVAN, 19 MAY, ARMENPRESS. According to former Judge of the European Court of Human Rights Alvina Gyulumyan, Armenia hasn’t sent many appeals to the European Court of Human Rights. According to her, this goes to show that the court rulings in Armenia satisfy people, but at the same time, people lack information about the activities of the ECHR and the procedure of appealing to the ECHR. As “Armenpress” reports, this is what the judge said during a press conference at the National Assembly.
“Armenia is not the only country that makes certain payments for violated rights. In the European Court of Human Rights the state is the plaintiff. Studies are conducted to clarify the reason for the mistake that was made in the country. Any verdict against the Republic of Armenia is translated, examined and becomes a subject for the training courses for judges, prosecutors and investigators. The reason could be the gap in legislation and institutional issues,”Alvina Gyulumyan said, touching upon the question of how long it would take for Armenia to make payments from the State Budget of the Republic of Armenia for the wrong verdicts announced by individual judges.
