YEREVAN, 13 MAY, ARMENPRESS. Germany's Rhineland-Palatinate Administrative Region parliamentary factions through a joint resolution recalled the crimes, which had happened against the Armenians in the Ottoman Empire 100 years ago. As “Armenpress” reports, the German newspaper Die Welt informed about this. The speakers of the factions particularly noted in their speech: "Our main objective should be to promote solidarity, mutual understanding and perception". They urged the Government of Rhineland-Palatinate to put forward initiatives and projects on 1915-1916 events and the assumption of the German side’s responsibility in them.

Turkey, as the successor of the Ottoman Empire, denies recognizing the atrocity as genocide. The German outlets reminded that President Joachim Gauck had described the massacres of the 1.5 million Armenians during World War I as a genocide.
