Museums dedicated to crimes against humanity are messages to keep bitter memories of past bright: Armenia's President

YEREVAN, MAY 6, ARMENPRESS. The President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan, who is on a working visit to the U.S., has paid a visit to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum on May 6. At the course of the tour in the museum, the director introduced the exhibits to the President of Armenia. Following the tour, Serzh Sargsyan left a note in the museum’s book for honorable guests.

“I am deeply impressed with what I saw. This is a place, the walls of which enclose a deep sorrow and, at the same time, a huge gleam of hope, emphasizing the advantage of facing the past over concealing and denying it. This is an invaluable contribution, as a silent, but strong guarantee of secure future.

The museums dedicated to the crimes against humanity, as this Holocaust Memorial Museum, Yerevan’s Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute, are not meant solely for paying tribute to the victims or merely summarizing the memories of the survivors, but, also, they represent a distinct address to the present and future generations to keep the bitter memories of the past bright to learn lessons and convey them to the future generations,” President Serzh Sargsyan concluded.
