YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 15, ARMENPRESS: The Islamized Armenians pass Armenian language courses in the city of Sur of Diarbekir. 66 Armenians have already learnt Armenian in the framework of the courses held by the Sur Municipality since 2012. Armenpress reports that the Turkish Taraf Periodical informed about it.
The Head of the Saint Giragos Armenian Church Foundation Gafur Turkai stated that the courses were attended by housewives, students, people of different professions, employees, workers and doctors. Turkai himself, whose Armenian surname is Ohanyan, knew about his Armenian origin when he was 15.
The Sur Mayor Abdullah Demirbash noted that the implementation of the courses will be continuative. He expressed wish to hold also courses of the Assyrian language.
