Edward Nalbandian held several meetings in Spain

YEREVAN, JUNE 17, ARMENPRESS: Foreign affairs minister of the Republic of Armenia Edward Nalbandian had a meeting Foreign affairs minister of Spain Manuel Garcia-Margallo on June 17 in Madrid. Thanking his Spanish colleague for the invitation to visit Madrid minister Nalbandian mentioned that Armenian-Spanish relations have a history of mutual friendship which is a good base for development and expansion of interstate relations. “Armenpress” reports that greeting the Foreign affairs minister of Armenia Spanish minister reconfirmed his readiness to implement steps to strengthen and deepen cooperation with friendly Armenia in various spheres.

The Ministers had a meaningful conversation about ways of expanding the cooperation in different spheres of bilateral relations, cooperation in framework of regional and international organizations and exchanged opinions on issues of international agenda.

Minister Garcia-Margallo informed the steps of Spanish authorities for overcoming the economic crisis. The foreign affairs ministers of Armenia and Spain exchanged opinions on ways of settlement of Syrian crisis and efforts of international society in that direction, negotiating process on Iran’s nuclear program.

Minister Garcia-Margallo accepted Nalbandian’s invitation to make a response visit to Yerevan. Edward Nalbandian and Garcia-Margallo signed the “Agreement on cooperation in spheres of culture, education and science between the Republic of Armenia and Kingdom of Spain”. It is planned with the agreement publications of books on history of both countries, development of cooperation in spheres of music, ballet, opera and theatre.

With the document the sides are obliged to give opportunity to each other’s citizens to enter libraries, archives and other cultural, educational and scientific institutions. It is planned to establish cooperation between scientists, scientific, educational institutions of the two countries.

At the same day Edward Nalbandian held a meeting with the President of Senate Pio Garcia- Escudero and president of international relations committee of Senate Alejandro Munoz-Alonso. At the meeting were discussed issues relating the development of Armenian-Spanish relations, cooperation between parliaments of two countries. There was also a reverberation to the cooperation between the delegations of two countries in parliamentary conferences in framework of international organizations.

Finishing the visit Edward Nalbandian left for Yerevan.
