YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 28, ARMENPRESS: A conference on children's rights and their participation took place today aimed to work out and classify suggestions of children connected with the protection of human rights for presenting them in future to the national legislative and executive bodies.
"I agree that children must have active participation in the legislative changes," chairman of the health, motherhood and children's affairs standing committee of the National Assembly Ara Babloyan said at the conference.
He said, having experience of contacting with hundreds of children he knows how much potential children have in the protection of their rights.
"If we do not follow this way, we will miss the period of formation of our future citizens," Babloyan said.
The children participating in the conference are engaged in the "A Child for a child" group within the framework of "Regional Initiative for the Participation of Children" program.
"We have started this program from the March of the past year. A year has almost passed and I can frankly say how children may bring changes into the Armenian society," Jean-Christophe Gerand, head of the functional department of the EU delegation to Armenia said. He said such projects promote the integration of children into society, making them active participants.
