YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 21, ARMENPRESS: A Council for Foreign Relations has been working in Goris Mayor's Office from beginning of the year. The goal of the council is to coordinate and strengthen the cooperation with sister cities of Goris, as well as to establish new ties with international organizations and foreign cities.
Svetlana Khachatryan, coordinator of the newly-appointed council, told Armenpress that the work in the line of enhancement of foreign relations was passive last year. The cooperation was especially weak with Nesvizh District of Belarus, while there is a bilateral cooperation memorandum.
Achievements have been registered in the field, too. St. Holy Virgin Church of Hin Goris was reconstructed last year with the support of the Culture Ministry of Armenia.
The council is now engaged in elaboration of projects for development of cooperation with Elblong city, Poland. Preliminary works are being carried at the threshold of the 20th anniversary of cooperation of Goris-Vienna sister cities. On March 15 Francophone Days will launch, in which Goris has been actively participating since 2009.
