Serzh Sargsyan receives NATO Secretary General's Special RepresentativeJames Appathurai

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 13, ARMENPRESS: President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan received James Appathurai, NATO Secretary General's Special Representative for the Caucasus and Central Asia, president's press service told Armenpress.

The interlocutors highly assessed our country's relations and cooperation with NATO in all the spheres of the partnership.

Serzh Sargsyan considered 2011 quite an efficient year from the viewpoint of development of the cooperation with NATO, stressing that active political contacts were continued, Armenia enlarged its participation in International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Afghanistan, and the Armenia-NATO 2012-2013 Individual Partnership Action Plan was approved.

NATO Secretary General's Special Representative expressed gratitude to President Serzh Sargsyan, Armed Forces of Armenia and all Armenian people for high-level service of the Armenian soldiers in Afghanistan, which, according to him, is a pride for Armenian people.

The parties also referred to security challenges in the region, the latest developments over the negotiation process on the Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement.
