For making the medical services available in the rural communities of the Armenian province of Syunik, "Syunik Foundation for Health Preservation" NGO in collaboration with the governor's office's health and social insurance department and urban communities' medical establishments is carrying out health programs in 54 communities of the province. "The programs have engaged about 13% of the residents of the province. As of today we have about 1000 beneficiary families. Our beneficiaries are mainly elderly or children who need medical services," chairman of the NGO Shahen Babayan told Armenpress. The organization not only periodically organizes visits of doctors to the communities but provides medicine to the residents.
