Rural Tourism Active in Gegharkunik

GAVAR, AUGUST 16, ARMENPRESS: RA National Statistical Service's Gegharkunik Marz Agency carried out a study on tourism in the marz. Hakob Badalyan, head of the agency, told Armenpress that this year the marz had over 550 000 tourists, who mainly visited the shores of Sevan, as well as the villages of the marz.

The tourists are interested in the historical cultural buildings of the marz. Rural tourism is developing in Shorja, Pambak, Hayravank, Artanish, Geghamasar, Daranak, Areguni, Avazan, Lchap, Noratus, Tsovazard, Chkalovka, Drakhtik communities. The majority of the tourists were from Russia, Iran, Ukraine, Belarus, Georgia, USA, France, Arab states. Over 8 billion 400 million AMD was invested in the tourism sphere during the 7.5 months of this year, as against the same period of 2010 the investments increased by 3-5%.
