Military police officers are conducting what the Defense Ministry described as “large-scale preventive” measures at various military units.
The Defense Ministry said in a press release that Military Police Chief Major General Aram Hovhannisyan had ordered both “general preventive” and “individual preventive” measures at military units.
Another preventive operation, dubbed “Kargazants” (“Offender”), is also being conducted regularly to monitor compliance with the code of conduct.
“The ‘Kargazants’ operation is also conducted regularly. Its purpose is to monitor compliance with discipline in units, the proper organization of internal service, the fulfillment of service members’ duties, strict adherence to uniform-wearing regulations in garrison areas and populated areas, as well as the safe operation of military vehicles,” the statement said.
Major General Aram Hovhannisyan was recently appointed Military Police chief following the resignation of Ashot Zakaryan amid recent alleged suicides in the army.
