One serviceman killed, several injured in traffic accident

One serviceman of the Armenian Armed Forces was killed and several others were injured after a truck struck them on the road leading to Chambarak on Aug. 19, Armenia’s Ministry of Defense said.

The ministry identified the victim as Suren Vardanyan, without disclosing further details. It said the families of the servicemen involved had been notified. An investigation is underway to determine the circumstances of the accident.

The vehicle involved was a GAZ-53 truck driven by a civilian.

The Defense Ministry expressed its condolences to the family and relatives of the deceased serviceman.

The injured servicemen are in non-life-threatening condition and are under medical supervision at a military hospital.
