Russian President Vladimir Putin commented on the intensification of attacks by the Ukrainian Armed Forces on logistics and infrastructure facilities in Russia during a meeting of the Council for Strategic Development and National Projects. The text of his remarks was released by the Kremlin press service.
Putin said in particular that the Ukrainian attacks had caused “no critical consequences, nor have there been any, nor can there be”, although they were undoubtedly causing damage.
The Russian president stressed that despite the attacks, the country’s commercial infrastructure was operating efficiently and steadily, but damaged logistics facilities and warehouses needed to be restored.
“At the same time, logistics and warehousing capacities, of course, need to be restored, including with state participation. In this regard, I ask the government to adopt an appropriate programme. At the same time, it should be taken into account that the damaged facilities must be restored at a qualitatively new technological level,” he said.
Earlier, Tatyana Kim, founder of major Russian online retailer Wildberries, said the company would work with the Russian government to develop a compensation mechanism for sellers whose goods had been destroyed or damaged as a result of Ukrainian Armed Forces drone attacks on Wildberries warehouses and logistics centres. In recent weeks, around 20 Wildberries facilities have been targeted by Ukrainian drones and sustained varying degrees of damage.
