Relations with Greece are of "special importance" to Armenia, given the civilizational and cultural ties between the two countries, Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan said during his meeting with his Greek counterpart, Konstantinos Tasoulas, in Athens as part of his state visit.
“We are pleased to note that our relations have experienced dynamic development across various sectors — political, economic, cultural, scientific, and educational. The past few years have been difficult for our country, but the current authorities, the Government, and the political team have managed to overcome those challenges. This was achieved also thanks to our friendly countries,” the Armenian President said.
Vahagn Khachaturyan emphasized that Armenia aspires to move closer to European values.
The President of Armenia also referred to the U.S.-brokered Armenia–Azerbaijan peace accords. He spoke about the opportunities stemming from the joint declaration, particularly efforts aimed at establishing peace in the South Caucasus.
Concluding his remarks, the Armenian President invited the President of Greece to visit Armenia.
