Armenia and Sweden are deepening their partnership in the field of migration through the launch of the “Strengthening Migration Governance and Integration – Sweden–Armenia Bilateral Initiative 2025–2029,” with a total budget of €3.5 million, the Swedish Embassy in Armenia said in a statement.
The event marking the launch of the program was attended by Armenia’s Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Armen Ghazaryan and Sweden’s Ambassador to Armenia Eva Sundquist. The Ambassador delivered a welcoming speech and reaffirmed Sweden’s commitment to supporting migration-related reforms in Armenia.
The project is designed to create sustainable solutions in migration, integration, border management, and asylum processes, with a focus on people, inclusion, and long-term impact. It will also support Armenia’s reform efforts related to the visa liberalization process.
The project will run for approximately five years, concluding in 2029, with a total budget of €3.5 million.
The program is implemented by the Swedish Migration Agency with the support of the Swedish Public Employment Service. In Armenia, key partners include the Ministry of Internal Affairs, through the Migration and Citizenship Service, and the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs.
