Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, summing up the current year, said Baku is preparing to continue dialogue with Yerevan in 2026 with the aim of advancing the peace process, APA reported.
Bayramov noted that efforts aimed at building trust between Armenia and Azerbaijan have intensified, adding that Azerbaijan remains committed to bilateral dialogue to move the peace process forward next year.
Bayramov described grain supplies to Armenia through Azerbaijan and Armenia’s purchase of Azerbaijani oil products as positive confidence-building steps. According to Bayramov, the TRIPP project would also contribute to strengthening unity in the South Caucasus.
The Azerbaijani Foreign Minister also emphasized the importance of cooperation between Armenia and the United States with Azerbaijan on the TRIPP issue, "as its entry and exit will be on the territory of Azerbaijan". At the same time, Bayramov reiterated Azerbaijan’s claim that the Armenian Constitution contains territorial claims against Azerbaijan and should be amended.
Bayramov stated that the already initialed peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan would be signed only if Armenia fulfills its obligations under the agreement and within the framework of the TRIPP project.
Prime Minister Pashinyan, U.S. President Donald Trump and President Aliyev signed a declaration in Washington. The fourth point of which, in particular, stipulates:"The Republic of Armenia will work with the United States of America and mutually determined third parties, to set forth a framework for the “Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity” (TRIPP) connectivity project in the territory of the Republic of Armenia. We confirm our determination to pursue efforts in good faith to achieve this goal in the most expeditious manner."
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has stated that the “Trump Route” project is an integral part of the Armenian government’s “Crossroads of Peace” initiative. According to Pashinyan, the project would ensure a connection between the main part of Azerbaijan and Nakhchivan through Armenia’s territory, while maintaining Armenia’s territorial integrity, sovereignty, and reciprocity of jurisdiction.
