The large-scale project “Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity” (TRIPP), along with the opening of communication between Armenia and Turkey, has the potential to become an important component of the Middle Corridor, ensuring unhindered connectivity between Europe, the South Caucasus, and Central Asia. According to an Armenpress correspondent from Berlin, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this during the panel discussion “Armenia’s Vision for Peace Institutionalization, Regional Connectivity and EU Integration” held at the German Foreign Policy Council.
The Prime Minister noted that implementation of the initiative could begin as early as next year.
“We will advance to actual implementation and construction next year. This project, which fully corresponds to our government's Crossroads of Peace initiative, will create additional interconnectedness and interdependence in the region, becoming another important factor in achieving peace,” Pashinyan said.
He recalled that on August 8, in Washington, in the presence of US President Donald Trump, a joint declaration was signed between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
The Prime Minister stressed that Armenia is committed to closing the page of hostility between the two countries. “We resolutely reject and exclude any attempt at revenge, now or in the future.”
The initialed text of the Agreement on the Establishment of Peace and Inter-State Relations between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan was approved in Washington, in the presence of the Presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan, as well as with the participation of President Trump.
“One of the key achievements reached in Washington was the agreement on the opening of communication between Armenia and Azerbaijan for domestic, bilateral, and international transportation, based on respect for sovereignty, territorial integrity and jurisdiction of the states,” Pashinyan said.
According to him, these efforts should include unhindered communication between the main part of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic through the territory of the Republic of Armenia, with mutual benefit for Armenia’s domestic and international communication.
Pashinyan added that the preliminary conditions for the implementation of the TRIPP project are being discussed with the United States. It envisages the registration of an Armenian-American joint company in Armenia, which will have the right to build the necessary infrastructure, including railways, highways, oil and gas pipelines, and fiber-optic communication lines.
