Armenia is lifting cargo transit restrictions to Azerbaijan, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said on Monday.
“Armenia will also lift restrictions on the transit of goods to Azerbaijan,” the Prime Minister said at a parliamentary committee hearing, commenting on the earlier statement by the Azerbaijani President that his country had removed all restrictions on the transit of goods to Armenia.
Referring to the transit of a consignment of Kazakh wheat through Azerbaijani territory to Armenia, the Prime Minister said it will be delivered via the railway.
“This will take place along the Azerbaijan–Georgia–Armenia railway route,” the Prime Minister added.
Last week, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev announced that his country had lifted all restrictions on the transit of goods to Armenia. The first shipment under the new arrangement was a consignment of Kazakh wheat, a move welcomed by PM Pashinyan.
