Pashinyan says narrative of Armenia's active opposition is being shaped abroad

The speeches and political directions of the most active segment of the opposition are being developed outside Armenia, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said during the Q&A session with Cabinet members.
Pashinyan noted that these forces have no connection with domestic political life and operate within the framework of foreign agendas.
“The speeches and policies of a significant segment of our opposition, or the most active segment, are developed outside Armenia. They have no connection with domestic political life. They are connected with foreign political agendas and serve as internal brakes on foreign policy,” Pashinyan said.
The Prime Minister stated that a democratic society cannot pose a threat to a democratic government, as democracy implies discussion and debate over principles. However, he stressed that some opposition groups are acting on the instructions of foreign forces.
“In the opposition segment, we only have foreign emissaries who carry out foreign instructions,” Pashinyan said.
He added that the key issue in the domestic political arena remains the preservation of Armenia's independence.
“The question is whether the Republic of Armenia should be an independent state or not. Peace is a factor of independence, and conflict is a factor of dependence,” Pashinyan noted.
According to the Prime Minister, some external forces are dissatisfied with the fact that Armenia has overcome the state of dependence that existed for many years and are now trying to reverse that situation.
“However, as always, the decisive word will belong to the people,” he concluded.
