The European Union is ready to use its tools to promote regional connectivity within the framework of the TRIPP project and, more broadly, the Crossroads of Peace initiative, Head of the EU Delegation to Armenia, Vassilis Maragos, told reporters.
“The events and meetings that took place in Washington on August 8 were welcomed by the European Union,” Ambassador Maragos told reporters during a visit to Syunik province, referring to the U.S.-brokered Armenian-Azerbaijani peace deal. “Since then, we have expressed our readiness to support these initiatives and connectivity. We are prepared to contribute our tools not only within the framework of the Trump Route project, but also in the broader context of the 'Crossroads of Peace' initiative — which the European Union welcomed two years ago, when the Government of Armenia first announced it,” Maragos said.
The Ambassador added that the European Union consistently supports peace in the South Caucasus.
“We are very happy to see peace approaching. Many details still need to be clarified, but we are here — as a reliable partner of Armenia, the Armenian people, and the Government of Armenia — to support you throughout this process,” Maragos said.
The Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) is a connectivity project in Armenia envisaged under the U.S.-brokered Armenian-Azerbaijani joint declaration signed in Washington, D.C. The project is expected to unlock strategic economic opportunities, creating long-term benefits by promoting infrastructure investment and enhancing regional connectivity. TRIPP is part of the Crossroads of Peace project.
