EU will not accelerate €90 billion payment to Ukraine

The European Union is not considering accelerating the payment of €90 billion to Ukraine. The funding is already “incredibly ambitious” and will be provided over two years, as originally planned, European Commission chief spokesperson Paula Pinho said at a briefing in Brussels.

“At present, even as we understand all of Ukraine’s needs, we see that there are significant requirements, but we remain focused on providing Kyiv with €90 billion, which is already an incredibly ambitious financing programme. This amount will be provided to Kyiv over two years,” TASS quoted her as saying.

The Council of the European Union approved a €90 billion loan to Kyiv in April. It is intended to cover the country’s budgetary and defence needs.
