Putin 'does not want to end' war with Ukraine, says Trump

U.S. President Donald Trump has voiced disappointment with Russian President Vladimir Putin for not ending the war in Ukraine.

Speaking to reporters during a meeting with Argentina’s President Javier Milei in Washington, President Trump called the war in Ukraine ‘the "biggest conflict since World War II.’

“I'm very disappointed, because Vladimir and I had a very good relationship. Probably still do. I don't know why he continues with this war. This war has been so bad for him,” the U.S. leader said at the televised event.

"I'd like to see him do well. I mean, I had a very good relationship with Vladimir Putin, but he just doesn't want to end that war. And I think it's making him look very bad. He could end it quickly," he added, calling on Putin to settle the war.

He said that Russia is suffering heavy losses as a result of the ongoing war.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will visit Washington on Friday.

President Trump said earlier this week that he would send Tomahawk cruise missiles to Ukraine if the war with Russia is not settled, prompting warnings from Moscow that the move would escalate the situation.
