Chief of Staff Harutyunyan says historic accords will contribute to Armenia’s development

Arayik Harutyunyan, the Chief of Staff of the Prime Minister’s Office, described the documents signed in Washington as “historic” and “highly important,” emphasizing that the accords would open new opportunities for Armenia and the entire region.

“I think today is a highly important and historic day, because this process had been long initiated. The Republic of Armenia has wanted this peace for decades, and through the tremendous efforts of recent years—and, of course, through the intervention and participation of partner states—this is becoming possible. Peace is now a reality, and we must acknowledge that,” Harutyunyan told Armenpress.
He noted that the lack of peace had been the greatest obstacle to Armenia’s progress.

“I think the most important thing impeding Armenia’s development is the absence of peace. And I am sure that all the documents just signed in Washington at the White House will contribute exclusively to the development of Armenia and the region—first and foremost, Armenia itself—because the decades-long blockade prevented the adequate development of our vital sectors, from education and healthcare to manufacturing and beyond. I am confident that in just weeks we will see serious positive outcomes in this direction,” Harutyunyan added.
